AA Milne, the creator of Winnie the Pooh was born on 18 January 1882, and every year on this day Winnie the Pooh Day is celebrated up and down the country.
Today, at The Oaks care home, in Lexden, Colchester, we participated in Winnie the Pooh Day by listening to tales of Winnie the Pooh, Eeyore, Tigger, Piglet and the Hundred Acre Wood, and the much loved character was passed around for a bear hug.
A lot can be learnt through the books of A.A. Milne, including "A little consideration, a little thought for others, makes all the difference."
And one of our favourite quotes is "If you live to be a hundred, I want to live to be a hundred minus one day so I never have to live without you."
Louise Baxter, Home Manager, commented "Winnie the Pooh day was a great opportunity to have a get together to reminisce, listen to stories of the famous bear, and squeeze our new cuddly Pooh bear. The residents enjoyed it immensely."
